View Full Version : Low Poly 3K Dirk the Daring WIP
Robert-Fletcher 08-08-2005, 11:54 PM this is one of my first finished charecter meshes. I did this at the start of the year for college. He's based on Don Bluths "Dirk the Daring" from dragons layer. im cleaning him up(hense the lack of hands) at the moment n wondered what ya all think. maybe some tips on how to improve the likeness or details i could fix, i've modeled quite a bit but im only just getting into the specifics of game modeling so all help with regards is very welcome(i've read the above thread on the subject).
cheers

ok cool
ithink you could get rid of a fair few polys on face i.e tiny ones at corner of face. you could get away without polys this size easily, remeber what size on screen the model is going to be seen, and that currrent consoles only render at pal res i.e 720x576.
adjust the polys in face to suit this then use them elswhere, the feet look a little sparse at mo, giving these more detail would even model up, its to heavy in polys around the head.
other than this its looking good.

I've finished the hands, sorted out the joints for deformation and added the tunic. Following advise i've also removed a hell of a lot of polys from the face and a few from other areas. He's currently weighing in at 2890 tri.
:)
looks good but i thought he was skinier? i might be wrong though. you need to create daphne and singe when you get done:)

It depends where you see him i think. heres his model sheet from Sullivan Bluth. he seems quite well built here but ingame shots look much skinnier allright.
My versions face is a little off i think. Ne Suggestions
