Sr. Artist/Cinematic Animator
Santa Monica, California

Responsibilities:
* Assist other Animators when help is requested. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting with animation, rigging, in-game cinematics, art and design problems, technical issues, etc.
* Support the Animation Lead(s) during the progression of the project by being a self-reliant Animator and taking the initiative wherever appropriate to make the project more successful and also to alleviate your teammate’s workload when possible.
* Possess comprehensive knowledge of 3D animation processes, rigging, and engine tools, fundamental knowledge of traditional/cell animation, 2D Art, and film experience a plus, must be highly knowledgeable of Maya and/or discipline specific industry art suites, understand and be able to execute varying forms of animation such as traditional keyframing and/or motion capture data and possess an excellent knowledge of game platform limitations.
* Support other Character Animators to creatively solve global problems within the realm of animations, moves, and cinematics, assist the Lead Animation Artist with providing feedback to the Technical Art Team and Designers on any support needed for characters, including parenting geometry, skinning vertices, updating animated object characters in entities and waypoints files for non-playable characters and work with Lead(s) on complex animations throughout the duration of the project.
* Meet with the Lead(s) and Character Designer(s) to get a clear sense of the “personality” of a specific character in the game. Sketch out attitudes, poses and motions for the character and formulate how to execute the animations.
* Senior Artist / Animator is expected to handle any issues that arise in production efficiently and in a professional manner.

Qualifications:
* Candidate must have at least 5 years of computer animation experience, with ideally 2 or more years serving on a sports videogame title, and should possess a college degree in an art related field.
* Extensive knowledge of Maya and MotionBuilder is a must.
* Requires organizational and project task management skills.
* Must have a solid understanding of game creation limits and dependencies, specifically on current generation consoles and ideally on next generation consoles.
* Must be open to direction and able to embrace change.
* Experience with physics driven animation solutions and with character rigging and directing, analyzing, and editing motion-capture sessions in either the film or videogame industries is highly recommended.
