View Full Version : 1GB@400 Mhz vs 2GB@333Mhz

I´ve currently got 2 doublesided 512MB Memory Modules installed in my MSI K8N Neo2, running at 400Mhz. Adding another 2 and bumping the memory to 2GB would lower the overall speed to 333Mhz (unless I use all singlesided memory, which means swiching the two DIMMs that are already there).

My question is, how much will this affect performance? In which situations will 2GB@333 Mhz be faster and in which will the higher clockspeed pay off? Would it be a good choice or a waste of money?

From someone who has populated all 4 slots on that motherboard, it makes bugger all difference. And if you want you can overclock it back to 400mhz without a hitch using cheap ram.
