I am a professional game developer located in New Hampshire who is looking for a 2D artist to create cartoon graphics for a shareware title.

This is a work from home position and you do not need to be located in the US. The art will be created under contract.

The game is fairly simple, and will require only very basic animation. For example, if a character picks up an item, they would have one frame in a neutral pose, one frame of them reaching for the item, and one frame with them back in the neutral pose with the item in hand.

Here's a list of what will be needed for art assets:

1. Five backgrounds featuring the interior of a restaraunt. These backgrounds will need to be divided into foreground and background layers.

2. Characters with simple animation as described above. This includes various customers both adults and children, of both genders, and various ethnicities. Each character will need five to ten different frames of animation, each one showing different action or emotional state. There will also be one main character with a similar number of states.

3. Menus, dialog boxes, and fonts.

4. Other miscellaneous elements like special effects, thought bubbles, items, and other such things.

The art must be completed a month and a half from the start date, and art will need to be periodically be submitted as it is completed. Concept sketches will need to be submitted for approval before final art is created for the more complex art peices.

I am offering $200 for this work, 50% payable up front, 50% upon completion, plus a 10% royalty capped at $1000. I may offer more for a particularly skilled artist, but my budget is limited. This would be a good project for someone who is interested in working in the game industry and needs something for their resume.

If interested, email me at scswift@comcast.net. I will need to see examples of your work. Character sketches in particular. Background sketches/paintings would also be good. You may email samples to me at the address above or provide a link to the samples on the web.

You should know how to export images with transparency and/or alpha maps from your art package of choice. Knoweldge of Photoshop is a plus.

I'm looking to find an artist by the end of this week hopefully, so if you might be interested in this position, now's the time to apply.

I am now asking that folks submit a sample color sketch of the main character if they wish to be considered for the position because I have recieved a number of good submisisons, but none which demonstrate the sort of cartoon game style I'm looking for. (Monkey Island for example.)

The character should be recognizeable as a person who runs an ice cream shop, but not a stereotypical ice cream man. They will be seen from behind at a distance, and should have an ice cream scoop in their right hand with both arms dangling at their side. The character can be male or female, fat or thin, young or old but should be recognizeable as someone who runs an ice cream shop and not just a generic person in generic clothing. A white front apron and/or a little white hat might be a good way of doing this.

I've asked for this sample to be submitted to me by all artists by wednesday, but how soon i make a decision depends on the quality of the samples received.

Part of the reason I have asked for this sample is some of the artists that have contacted me never replied ot my emails, so I'm trying to get a feel for who is actually interested in this project and who is just scatter-firing off resumes.
