View Full Version : Weird Distortions(Maya)

Now, ive followed several tutorials on rigging and such(in maya), and everytime, i have come apon the same results:

As you can see, i have my IK handels and such all put on the models. Ive set prefered angles and such too. Ive also put on weight maps, and those were the results. Also, when i move it, the arms and hands turn in odd directions(im guessing because of the IK handels). I really dont see what i am doing wrong here, but everytime i try and rig, i get the exact same problems in all the same areas...so does anyone out there have any solutions? Somebody suggested to me to raise the influence on some of the parts of the arm, but it wont let me paint on the parts i believe need to be...heres what my weight tool looks like:

Maybe this isnt what they ment by adding infulence? Or is there another way?

EDIT: Also, how do i fix the IK handels so they dont rotate when i move them left or right? Thanks.

did u set up pole vector control for your ik?

you might want to tweak your weight map more...it would also look better if you put more geo around your bending area

Ah yes, i fixed it finaly, but now, im having trouble with the animation distorting after i play the animation =/ But thanks again.
