Hello friends

I hope some of you can help me about this. My current configuration is AMD Athlon 64 3000+ with Zalman 7700cu CPU cooler, Gigabyte K8 Triton Nforce4 Mainboard, 2gb Of DDR400 Kingston Rams, Asus Extreme N6600 Video Card with Zalman v700 cooler, Creative SB Live 5.1, 200 gb of Seagate Barracuda Hard Drive, a floppy drive, LG CD-Writer - Placed on a 3 fan Thermaltake Tsunami Case.

I am running this stuff with 480 watt Silent Pure Power - Power supply is this supply enough for running this kind of system ? Should I upgrade this to 580 or more ?

Any advice will appreciated - all the best

Kerem

That power supply should be more then plenty to your your system.

In a quick overview of my system. I got a P4 2.4C @ 3.3ghz running 1.6V, 4x 512mb sticks of PC3200 @ 216Mhz running 2.7V. I got 3 harddrives, 36.7Gig Raptor, 160gig and 80gig WD 7200 RPM 8mb Cache. I do have a Sound Blaster Autigy 2.0 and a X800pro (unlocked to xtpe running @ 530/570mhz) I also have 3 case fans, 2x 120mm and a 92mm running aronud 7V. Final touch is a NEC DVD burner.

Now it might very slightly from system to system but I ran all this on a 430W Antec and now a 450W no-name PSU. Only reason why I upgraded was to see if I could overclock my cpu higher and to put the quieter 430W into my PC that runs 24/7.

So truely you shouldn't need to upgrade unless you plan on doing some heavy overclocking and modding to your PC to really eat up some power. Anything over 500W currently for a desktop is still considered overkill from what I've seen, unless you plan on upgrading to something bigger and better down the road soon, or moving to a server setup.

I agree. That should be fine unless you are doing something like running SLI, overclocking, running multiple SCSI drives etc...

I am about to buy (unless anything interesting happens in the next few weeks):

Asus A8N-SLI Premium Mobo
AMD 4400 X2 CPU
2G OCZ Platinum EL ram
Western Digital Raptor 74G HD
Western Digital Caviar 300G HD
Leadtek PX7800GTX video card
Plextor PX-716 S SATA DVD burner
Antec P-180 Case

and using an Antec Neopower 480 or Antec Phantom 500 power supply to run it all. This unit will be more than enough, though I will not be running SLI. SLI to me seems like an at the time of purchase thing for gamers because by the time I need faster video it will make more sense to simply buy a newer, faster single card. I can't imagine running out next year looking for another 7800 to run in SLI with the one I already have.

Adam.

Hello again guys...

May I ask any of you using case modding accesories such as neon lights ?...

No modding stuff for me. I like a nice looking case but lights and plexiglass are a little much.
