I am using 3ds max5, and when i start rendering a scene, either in production or draft mode, i can see the cancel button, but it doesn't function whenever i click on it....i guess during rendering,
the program is so busy it can't respond to my cancelation...but i tried clicking the button constantly, maybe a small window of opportunity comes up, but no..
i'm wondering is there a way of gettin around this problem, currently i'm stuck with a render that has taken over an hour so far, but i have no other option than to restart the program if i want to get back to tweaking....
please help!

Hi Igor,

Are you using fR or Brazil or Max5 Radiosity? Anything that would require lots of preparation for the renderer?

If the renderer gets stuck doing this kind of massive preparation you may not have enough cpu access to cancel it immediately.

Do a quick test: make about 100 spheres and try to render them at 1024x768 and see if you can click the Cancel button. If that works then its your scene causing the problem, but if it doesn't work then you might want to contact Discreet.

Good luck,
Joe

Probably best to pursue this at the Discreet Support Forum, then.

Good luck,
