Hi veterens,

Can u please tell me what will be the Image Aspect ratio setting when rendering in max.
The info that I have is,

_Its a DV to Film project.
_The Aspect they are working in is 16:9
_The Image Aspect that I work in for PAL (720*576) is 1.25

What will be my image aspect value when I render my 3d elements for such project?

Also How to calculate that...(I am poor in maths)

I'd appreciate if u can figure some out....

oh it's just industry standard, it's the res I work with whenever I work on feature films ect (16:9)
basically 1920x1080 (Standard Def is 720x405)

The image aspect is a ratio.... the width divided by the height. So a square would be 1.0. And in your example, 720/576 is 1.25.

Thanx Alan and Gnarly,

ok, now I have the live footage which is 720*576 and is streached vertically.

Off ource when the footage will be printed on the film it will be streached back to down(16:9).

What I need to know is when I render the elements in 3D with the live footage in the backgroung (which is streached-up now), what should be my Pixel Aspect Ratio. So that when, finally the footage is streached down to its original size it will fit with the rest of the shots.

Just to elaborate more......

1) Shoot with 16:9 widescreen.(normal)
2) Digitize at 720*576 (Streached-up)
3) Transfer the live footage for fx at 720*576(streached-up)
4) I render the 3D elements with the footage (720*576 streached-up)*
5) Transfer the composit to the edit room.(720*576 streached-up)
6) Reverse telecine to 16:9 widescreen (normal)

Now my role comes in step 4. at this stage I am supposed to render at 720*576 image asoect ratio 1.25, but at what Pixelaspect ration?

Bless me with the answer........

Oops!
Correction.

I will render without the footage, and composit the 3D with live footage in discreet's cumbustion.

So i need to work out the Pixel Aspect ratio in max.

pixel aspect ratio of 1.0 should work
otherwise try 1.333.

It's helpful to have a widescreen tv hooked up to a DPS reality so you can play your stuff directly on a widescreen tv and see how it looks, always good practice anyway just so you can see it in the correct colours and brightness ect. too

dont have widescreen monitor , instead we change the viewing aspect of the standard Monitor to 4:3 and the picture looks normal.
