I checked out the rigging tut here (http://www.newtek.com/products/lightwave/tutorials/animation/rigging/index.html) and I played with the final scene file that was provided and it was great. But when I keyframed the HipController at a different position the IK seems to not work. Can anyone tell me what the go is and how to fix it?

Thanks

It's because of the Follower motion modifier applied to the Root bone (set to follow HipController; most likely to simulate a parent-child relationship between these two). It's set to After IK for some reason. This naturally offsets everything only after IK has been applied. Just untick that option.

And just as a side note, He's also forgotten to terminate his IK chains (apply Unaffected by IK of Descendants where IK should end;For example, at the shoulders for the arms). In many cases it doesn't matter much, but in others it causes slow performance and jittering. This seems to a be very common thing to forget though.

I also run into that problem with that rig. Like evenflcw said, uncheck the "After IK" option in the Follower applied to the HipController. You can check my thread where I asked the same question, there is a link to a great rig you can check:

Here's the link to this rig by Puff and Larkin, you can download the model with skelegons, along with sample scenes and the site also has a brief tutorial on creating it.

hope this helps you.
