CGTalk - I hate this error

I have no idea why, but all-of-a-sudden my Max starts spitting out this error when i do various things in 3ds max, in particular, video post. Also, it appears i can't render in AVI files, does the same thing. I click animate and it said max has encountered an error and must shut down. Is there anything i can do? Should i reinstall?

I'm using Max 6.

what should i do?

this is a common problem with max 6. you could try updating to SP1.

Let me rephrase this the avi.bmi update will fix this issue.

will this help, even if this problem just started to occur? Like ive never updated or anything, and this just started happening.

if you don't have too many plug-ins installed i would just reinstall max... that's what i do every once in a while...

That is the resolution to the problem. I ran into that when I first got max6 and it baffled me, about a week later they came out with this patch.

Reinstalling max will not fix this issue, if you reinstall max you'll have to apply this patch again anyway.
