Hey,
There are some things that don't come across to me:
1. The dominant colors are red and violet and the restricted pallete gives it a stylised look. I don't know if this is intentional. If it is supposed to be realistic, I would vary the tonality to a much greater degree. If not, I would make it funkier.
2. The spikey shapes coming out of the torso are ambiguous. I don't know whether they are supposed to be solid spikes or jets of fire (as in a weapon discharging).
3. Is this one creature, or three huddled together?
4. What are these birds doing? The two on the left look like they're interested in something. The one on the right looks like it wants to run (roll) away.
5. The body and necks look very reminiscent of vacuum cleaners. I don't know if this is intentional.
Hope that helps,
rock on

Hey, thanks for the crit!
In response:
1. I did restrict the palette on purpose, because I seem to get a better result from doing so. I attached my first attempt at coloring this, and I think you'll see what I mean. I was trying to get across a metallic look on the robot as well as pick up on some of the other light reflected. I'll try to work on that more.
2. The spikey shapes are supposed to be fire, kind of like a blow torch. I didn't realize they didn't read well, so that was helpful.
3. They are supposed to be one unit with three heads. The first one is supposed to walk/lead the other two which just kind of roll behind.
4. What are they doing? Erm....looking menacing? lol They aren't doing anything really, since the picture as a whole is kind of static, composition wise, I arranged the heads in a way to try to create a bit more interest/movement. The idea was also, that since there are three heads that can be looking in different directions, that there wouldn't be much of a weak point.
5. As far as them looking like vacuum cleaners...well, I guess I can see that. It wasn't entirely intentional, but I did try to make it look a bit retro I guess.
By the way, I forgot to mention that this was entered for the thunderdome contest at conceptart.org. While I might go back and rework this later, this is the final version I've entered into the contest. I'd still love to hear more crits if anyone has 'em.
