This is one of my favorite planes of all times. I have already started on the modeling but I thought it would be good to get some feedback along the way from here.

This is what I have so far:

It is looking like a P38 but you've got some shape problems so far.

Some of the problems areas I see at the moment
- Top of your nacelles are looking too flat
- Engine as a whole is looking a bit wide.
- Chin intake needs to be a bit rounder.
- Main wheels look a bit wide.
- Propellors need a lot more work to look
- Chin intake dividers need to be vertical...your are splaying outward

Also Blend of the nacelles to tailplane needs more work but as it is still WIP these are probably on your todo list anyway.

The spinners and landing gear look pretty good and the airfoil shape and thickness of you wing look about right.

If you're not already using them...good blueprints for the P38J can be found here http://win.www.airwar.ru/other/draw/p38.html

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it is is need of much work. I have roughed out the forms and will be pushing and pounding away.

Thanks for the links as well. I can always use more sources. :)

How exactly are you modelling this? Was there any use of splines, or nurbs or anything like that, or are you just poly modelling with mesh smooth?

I used one capsule that I deformed, some patch and some box modeling.

It's the "Supercharger" folks! It's one of the things that made this plane so effective. There are two, one for each engine.

Well I kinda skiped ahead a few steps. Still need to work out the textures on the landing gear, quick stuff in the cockpit, and the landing gear doors.

Its coming along nicely !

It needs to look less like chrome and more like aluminium.

Ah yes nice!

"It needs to look less like chrome and more like aluminium."

I guess this will be solved in the final render/scene.
