Can anybody help me out with rolling a ball along an irregular surface?
In this case a ball on a desert surface (quad patch) with contours and ridges.
Ive managed to get the ball rolling with a plugin along a spline but now i need to align the spline with the desert so it looks like its rolling along up and down.
Is is a simple case of going in and adjusting the spline by hand or is there an easier way to get the spline to match the contours?
Plus any know of a way of leaving a trail in the desert made buy the balls?

many thanks

You can make the spline conform to the surface with a patch deform modifier. You may need to divide the segments on your spline once you have it in the right shape so it has enuff info to conform it to the patch.

You can make the ball leave a trail in the sand with Peter Watje's object deform plugin. max3d.3dluvr.com is where I usually look for stuff like that, but the search doesn't seem to be working very well at the moment. You can get it here.
