Title: Ladybug
Name: Laura Ballardini
Country: Italy
Software: Illustrator

Hi there!
Here's 'a good luck' gift for you all :)
I made this ladybug using a photo reference and a lot of features that are in Adobe Illustrator CS, like trasparency, effects, brushes, symbols and other...
C&C are always welcome

I saw this in the WiP forum a couple of weeks ago... it's a beautiful piece of vector art.

I'd love to know how you got all those textures in illustrator. I'm gonna have to get a copy of CS to play with!

Lovely...

Nice work!

Great clean style, leafs are quiet strange, but ladybug is perfect:thumbsup:

Turned out beautifully. I'd have saturated the highlights more, :) But otherwise quite outstanding.

very cool, always a fan of vector stuff

how did she get the leaf textures? I'm guess with a lot of time and patience lol

I think with the amount of work that went into other parts, you could have messed with the legs/antenna and such a little more for a slightly more realistic look, but thats just me! awsome job

Thank you all :) you're so kind!
answering to the most frequent answer on the leaf textures:
the basis of the leaf is made with a blend between 2 paths, that creat a personal color gradient, over this there's a layer with a closed path subdivided in many parts with the knife.
Each part has a radial gradient (from white to black) that simulate an emboss effect.
This layer has a trasparency that merge with the coloured leaf and so... ta daaa... you got a a home made textured leaf.
It's so complex to explain in words, but so easy to do :)
so take a look to this example:

FANTASTIC!!! Excellent work Lauranonce! Nice square format and composition. And cool vectors!

Thanks for the mini-tut

crit: about the only thing that caught my eye as not gestalt-perfection is how the texture of the antennae and feet don't quite match the rest of the ladybug surfaces. Buts thats minor I think.
