View Full Version : Editable Mesh vs Editable Poly

Hi, I have a bit of a basic question here. I use 3DS Max 5 and did a search and also my books don't really seem to explain it well, so I'm a bit confused.

What is the differnce between Editable Mesh and Editable Poly? I noticed, for example when you extrude an edge from a plane that the behavior is very different in each, but I haven't been able to really find out what it is that makes it different. Is there someone who could explain this so that in the future I will know which to select for different procedures?

There is another thread on this, so i'll be breif;

Editable mesh works on tris, and editable poly works with ngons.

Editable mesh is faster in the viewport, but because of how it works, less versatile.

Editable poly has a wider and more powerful toolset, however it's slower.

Oh I'm sorry I must have put in the wrong search feilds and missed it. :blush: I'll use ngon as a search, hehe. :D
