CGTalk - Windows XP pro slow

Hi,

I just bought a new system, and installed Windows XP pro. The operating system feels slow, but all the other applications fly. I've formatted the drive with NTFS.

Here is my system specs...please let me know how I can fix this.

Motherboard ==> Epox EP9NPAJ SLI
CPU ==> AMD Athlon™ 64 4200+ 1152K 2000GTs S939 2400MHz
RAM ==> 2 x 1024MB DDR-400 PC3200 DIMM
HDD ==> Seagate Barracuda 160GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache S-ATA NCQ
Display ==> Nvidia® GeForce™ FX6800GT 256MB DDR3 PCI-E 16X TV DVI SLI

What do you mean by feels slow?

When I drag windows around I get jerky movements...like a delay before it responds.
It takes for ever to boot and shut down as well.

Bet you didnt install nVidia graphics card drivers (forceware). Make sure you've also installed your mobo chipset drivers too.

I did install the nVidia display drivers...as well as the mother board drivers. Not sure what the problem was, but I decided to install Win 2K pro (with SP4), and it's running like a dream. :bounce:
