I have been trying to find out about the HD 1080 format..many of the articles i have read on the web appear to contradict each other.

I really want to know the spec of HD 1080 including is it PAL NTSC based, interlaced or progressive etc..if anyone knows of a good link or article i would really appreciate it..

I think what you could be running into is the difference between the two available HDTV standards the SMPTE definitions and the ITU definitions this article may help a bit:
