My project is to model a animated car engine. I began with the piston and the connecting rod.

To do the hole of the connecting rod i used the tips of celticdog in the theorical sub-d thread ( http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=40373&page=28&pp=15 )

My hole is simply ugly and not round at all!
The difference is that i have somes verts more that celticdog and i think this is the cause of my problem.

how can i do it? I test boolean and the result is :(

any tips?

This is some strange wires... I would just create a cylender, stick it through the
object and convert eather objects to bolean and press "pick operand B" and then
remove A or B... should work fine by that method I think.

That hole is totally not rounded as it is

Excuse the crudity of my curved wall. Maybe a hole modeled like this?

Then smoothed.

Shonner's post sums it up pretty good. Just a tip though when making the hole use a spline ngon to create a hexagon or octagon then you can align the verts to match the verts of the ngon in one of the viewports. Using this technique you will always end up with a perfectly round hole.

Your other choice would be to use NURBS and get even more precision.
