Hi everybody! Im a new here!!
I want to make a shader that looks like the Apple's Aqua style buttons. I faked it (without raytrace) using an area light for the inside color and a texture reflected. Still image looks great, but if I animate the camera around it, the illusion get lost!
So, I´m asking for shader network connections or something to make a shader like this!

Thanx!!

i think its normal that the shader change if ure camera get another xyz position u have to parent or constraint the light with the camera for a static result ( i hope i understand ur problem)

Exactly thats the problem! I dont want to do that cos it will not be real!
With the reflection there`s no problem, the real prob is with the inside illumination of the sphere. I did it with an area light but want to make it by shader.

Thanx a lot swag!!!!

Here you can see better what is the problem when I move the camera!!

This is what i can see might work from looking at your picture.

Create a locator
Create a camera and aim
move the locator so its in the middle of the sphere.
Snap the aim of the camera to the locator.
Aim constrain the camera to the locator (locator is green when aim constrain)
Now when you move the camera the locator will always face it .
Parent the light(lights) to the locator.
The light has gained the transform of the locator so it rotates around the sphere.

Fool around with this..
you could also do something like this with the local rotation axis i believe.
If that doesn't work then i suck..
Or if anyone sees a mistake in this correct me.. No maya open right now.

couldn't you creat that same look w/ layered ramp shaders using facing angle to have the effect move w/ the camera?

I may give this a shot at some point, but I'm still new to Maya so I can't promise anything.. :)
