Most every mouse I have seen on store shelves, within the last few years has been 3 buttons or more.

The scroll has a button under it and works as your middle mouse button. It is hard to not find a scroll mouse these days.

Huh? You can't find anywhere that sells a mouse with less than 3 buttons anymore unless you get lost and wander into an apple store.

Every single mouse on this page has 3-9 buttons

In OSX (if you stray from the default one button mouse, which I may say is hard and took me about 8 years to come to terms with before getting a Logitech MX LAser) you can get a program from http://www.usboverdrive.com which maps each button to a mouse click or a keystroke.

It's the best way to go really, get a mouse with as many buttons as possible, while still keeping comfort (I suggest the MX1000 Laser) and then map the buttons to whatever you want. For instance, clicking down the scroll pans, scrolling the erm.. Scroll zooms and the button in front of the scroll rotates. Then left click the scroll and it is middle mouse button, click one of the thumb buttons and you have hotbox, it can just keep on going, endlessly, well 12-13 buttons in this case :P And it's application specific so your settings change depending on which app you are in. I'm sure there will be a PC aquivelent.

Anyway, hope this helps.

i've always found using the scroll wheel as a middle mouse button to be annoying. I've used an old SGI 3-button mouse for years and love it. You can find 'em on ebay pretty cheaply.

here, for example. (http://cgi.ebay.com/SGI-Silicon-Graphics-320-540-BLACK-USB-MOUSE-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ5793701941QQcategoryZ4706QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
