if you can get whomever gave you the file to convert it to an .obj file from maya that would be better. i don't know of any .ml converters, but i'm sure there must be some.

Got the file to export as an obj but when open in cinema 4dxl the polys were all triangulated and some were even messed up. And it displays the polys behind the others likke the normals were reversed but theyre not. It renders fine.

i'm afraid c4'd import/export functionality isn't so hot, and needs to be updated.

wanted to say thx for the help. It does work but setting up selections for texturing is really a pain and the way it split my polys isnt very helpful either. Trying to subdivide to a high polycount for my displacement map and its causing some creasing where the polys are to tight to one another.
