View Full Version : tube expanding on a path
paul-baaske 07-26-2005, 07:01 PM Hi
I want to create a NURBS Tube that expands along a path. This path should discribe a route in a 3d-building. I've created a circle extruded along a curve, but I can't affect the length. Thanks for your help.

with the extruded surface created, in the channel box, you will have 3 inputs: extrude1, subCurve1 and subCurve2, lets say...press subCurve2, and change maxValue attribute between a low value but not 0 (lets say 0.001) and 1.

Im sure this may be the overly difficult way, but you could draw your curve, create a cylindar, then put on two (or more) extra Isoparms for each turn in the curve right at the end of the cylindar (Im assuming they are angled turns and not smooth curves) then keyframe a series of Hull manipulations to streach the cylindar out to fit your curve, leaving Isoparms behind for each turn to shape your tube on the turns correctly.

I would do it in one of the 2 ways.
1) ephemeros way, just be sure u have partial checked in the extrude option window during creation and then follow ephemeros's instructions.
2) Make an extrude in the path u want to follow and apply a 2 color ramp in its transparency node and animate the position of the black color bar to make the travelling.
That should do!
