This is my second model in Blender. I am trying to create a model similar to that of a Peep. A Peep is an Easter candy made of marshmellow and sugar, for those not in the know. I'm trying construct a model that resembles a Peep. Peep's are baby chickens, my model is a baby duck. Anyway, when it's completely finished I want the rendered model to look as real as a Peep. It will be used in a short film I'm trying to make titled the Pukes.

Any suggestions on modeling? I have basically taken a cube and and extruded it numerous times to form the current model. Is that even a proper way to model? To me the model has too many ruff edges.

Once the model and texturing is compelete I plan on rigging it for motion.

Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Looks like a good start. It is kind of a simple model you have chosen so textures and lighting will need to look great.
Yes, box modeling is probably the most popular modeling technique.
You can loose the rough edges by smoothing the model one more time but I would wait till the texturing and rigging is done to save yourself some time.
