First of all thanks for the advice on centering objects. Have now made that a hotkey function with macro script.

Right I seem to be making hard work of this. An exercise that would ordinarily take me 10 minutes in LW, I have spent the last 2 hours or so on.

Basically I have two tubes at 90 degrees to each other, partially overlapping. Where they over lap I want to make a nice blend/weld effect. I'm using poly modeling and meshsmooth.

What I want to know, while I'm cutting and slicing etc, is, is there a way of selecting 4 points and converting them into a quad poly?Ordinarily in LW I would select four points clockwise, hit P, and it becomes a quad poly.

I know gaps can be filled with border and cap, but this isn't suitable for what I need, as there are open areas.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

ps. Max seems to be frequently crashing aswell?

In Poly modifier, go into Polygon sub object, then clic on Create (into Edit geometry roolout). Then, clic on the vertices you want to define your polygon. You can of course put a shortcut on this function too ,-)

hope helpfull

Check this

MakePoly
I don't use this much, but it's a bit of a present to a Lightwave pal who's making the move over. Pick a selection of valid verts (just as if you were going to make the poly manualy with Create in poly mode), and hit the button to make a new Poly. It's actualy a lot easier this way.
->Pretty cool!
