View Full Version : Character: Astroboy
Fasty 10-28-2002, 02:17 PM You might have seen this guy in the WIP section. Here is the final comic cover I had to produce for a uni project. The brief was to relaunch an old comic character using a new illustration technique. It's all Lightwave except the type of course. BTW I am working on an animation of a cellshaded version of this guyso stay tuned.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the complements! It funny as a former lurker admiring peoples work, and then having those same people complementing your own! Thanks again! Oh and as for the eyes, they've always been pretty wide-set...

i really dig the model but somehow the material/lighting seems wrong. to me, he looks likes he made out of rubber and if he has seams on his side, due to the high contrast on the edges...
maybe you should move your back light a bit for a smoother edge.
sweet just sweet  :applause:

Ok heres a little experimental animation I did. It's not in the work in progress section because I don't think I'm going to do any more on it.

Glitchwolf: Thanks, any suggestions about the render? It has been something I've struggled with, so any advice would be appreciated :)
Lomi: Wow, what a compliment! Thankyou very much!
Totitch: Thanks! I agree about the hands, but in the end I had spent too long on them and had to leave them as the deadline loomed. You have no idea what a pain his head was to create!! I thought it would be impossile to get it looking right from every angle at one stage, but I'm quite happy with it now, thanks!
Proton: He sure does!! I can't wait for the Sony Astroboy movie!!!! I wish I was part of the Imageworks team!!!! :bounce::bounce::bounce:
Oh and by the way, that movie I posted is only small, about 670k, for those of you wondering about whether to download it or not
