View Full Version : Filmmaking issues: (free) Music 4 your feature
07-24-2005, 10:33 PM
2 minute film club challenge #1 is just finished and another one is in sight.
You're doing your portfolio.
A great idea came to your mind and you want to make your personal movie.
You want to do something with that fisher-price "strange" camera.
You get almost everything you need fo your work. You only need another thing: Music.
And you can't make your own.
Don't panic! "There are plenty of net labels under the creative commons license!" they say. Ok, now you just need their URL!
Have you got what this thread is for? Yes, post here the URLs of the free music resources you know!
(we will love you or your money back, guaranteed)
There you go

For those you looking for something less conventional there is an archive of phonograph music - here. (http://wfmu.org/playlists/AP)
It's a radio show archive. I've conversed with the DJ who does the show and here are his written words regarding the use of content over 75 years old.
75 years is the one thing the industry agrees on as the time when a record passes into public domain. Unless it's something REALLY BIG (ie Billy Holiday, Cab Calloway). No one can make money with it so no one cares.
That is my opinion based on what I know.
I must give the legal disclaimer that says I am pretty sure about what I speak of but not 100%
