View Full Version : How to model the auroral ring?

Well, I'm stuck. I want to make picture with aurora as it is seen from space. It is not that difficult to make acceptable Earth, but the aurora itself proved to be quite tough to make...
1) Do not know why, but multiple halos on one mesh just do not render, and Unified option does not help.
2) RGBA textured cylinder looks too "flat", maybe because I'm not that good at texturing, or do not know...
3)Haven't tried particles yet, but frankly, I'm already afraid that it won't help too...

Any other ideas?

Figured out one way (Procedurals+MBlur+dummy vertex keys to lock texspace. ) but it is unusable for animations.
