This is my first attempt at modeling a car. It was created for one little contest. The objective was to create a CARMAGEDDON style car. The budget was 2048 triangles, one 512 px diffuse map, and one 512 px map for specular(or alpha/bump/glosines)
The scene is rendered with two omni lights and 50% self illumination on materials. 3d studio MAX 6
I will appreciate all comments and hints for improvement. :)
(and sorry for all that bloody mess if you are gentle people)

First off, great job on the model, I like it...
I do have a few crits for you, as you asked for.
- The white lines surrounding the windows are a bit too obvious, you could smudge them a bit
- The car is still a little bit too "clean" in the parts without the blood, try adding in some extra details (i.e. scratches/rust) to show the croud this car's been used a lot
- The hubcaps are cool, but the wheels need some bloody love as well ;)

HAHAHA. From where You get this comunistic car?? I know this one under a Wolga (the name) or something like that (i don't know the west spelling for it) . Was very popular in '80. You should make it in black cousethis color of that car makes people terryfied. There was a legend (or not only ;) ) that black Wolga take people which never came back again.
Anyway the model is awesome. I also like the blood. Only metal is poor, maybe some details like environment map?? Or more destruction on it (I remember My carmaggedon car was always destryed ;) ). And also back of car looks a bit less detailed.
Good job I like it a lot ... maybe some red star on the doors ;) ?

im asuming the black and white pic is a spec ? . in that case i think you should tone the car a bit down ...and focus on giving the blood some varitation between whites and greys so that it gets a nice wet look.
thats my only crit other than that its really nice work.

That grey color is way too bland, it looks like a test color, is it? This car would look hot with that illumination on black paint! The scratch it up alittle. Great detail on the flames and blood though! I'd say this is a good model, but on the way to a great model!

Excellent work - looks like something id want to drive in a carmageddon style game!
Strangely enough, one of my fave cars in carmageddon 2 was a black car very similar to this :)
Great poly useage and good texture, though i dont think the grey colour suits it. Maybe a black or other dark colour? i also think that you could do with a reflection map - especially on the windows.

I made those white lines surrounding the windows, as a chrome decoration.

Por@szek: I'm from the former Czechoslovakia. There was a lot of russian cars driving on
our streets. And this model is so robust, big and boxy, ideal for Carmageddon.

franklyn: I tried to modifiy the specular map, but the effect was quite poor. :sad: maybe it
will work better in combination with bump map.
Beastie: Unfortunately the gray was final color for contest. I chose the gray because the
blood was not visible enough on the black paint. The layer with blood in .psd file
was set as "multiply", and when i change it to "normal", the blood looks too flat.
Maybe some color variation will make it.

very nice, along with the above coments, the blood on the right side where the seam is cuts off sharply, maby just take it off, I diden't notice at first though, it's not a huge deal.
