It was a little surreal seeing Spielberg "Geek Out" about Transformers!
This should be great!

Why does he talk like there was never a movie?
I have the origional on dvd. Not as good as the toys. But the theme tune by white lion, is an amazing metal track... and for a kids film! fantastic!

Someone video'd a promo screening at Comic-Con last week.

I've only read page one of that thread but just to be clear, none of the TF clips are official pre-visual work (to my knowledge at least). You'll recognise most of it anyway but I thought it was worth mentioning.
Now laugh at the geeks. heehee.
Wait...

You didn't miss anything man, it was just pre viz stuff that looked pretty bad....but all pre viz does, and in between was a bunch of 20 somethings talking about how they remember transformers...
If that opening was optimus prime...good god, that is horrible, I am sure Speilberg, or Bay will kick some but to get that looking better...
Come on Dreamworks! So I am assuming also from that video Dreamworks is going to be doing all the effects shots?

I was excited to see that Speilberg was involved in this project before I saw that Michael Bay will be directing......ugghh.....gonna suck!

So clue me in here.. this movie is going to have live actors with CG robots??
In a way that sounds all hokey, but lookin at the newest adaptations of the TF license (specifically the TF series on Cartoon Network on now), I am glad they didn't do a totaly animated movie.
They probably would have messed it up with too many queer human characters (in typical Japanimation form, they would go from being serious/realisticallty drawn one second, to whacky, over-the-top expressions/dumb poses the next - I so hate that). None of these current ones can hold a candle to the original cartoon series.... so I hope this new movie does it justice.
99SPROTH - I have the first movie too... one of the few DVDs I actually own, and it really was a very good movie - even holds up today!
