Title: Science Fiction Cityscape
Name: Selim Çobanoğlu
Country: Turkey
Software: 3ds max, After Effects, mental ray, Photoshop

I have created this image in my spare time for self development. My main focus was to develop my lighting and rendering skills. I used 3dmax with mental ray for 3d, photoshop for the texture stuff and After Effects for compositin the render passes. Waiting for your comments. :)

I love this style of picture. It reminds me of SF book covers. Nice job, though the backgreound looks abit flat and the ship in the foreground is a bit simple.

Not bad! I agree that the ships need to be more detailed, like the the buildings in the background. Also, move the camera frame down a bit so the hangar door isn't so close to the bottom edge of the picture. Give it a bit more space around it.

I also agree, this is pretty good! I definitely think you should have the hanger more visible in the frame.

Did you model that from scratch? It looks awfully similar to the Galactic Senate building from the Star Wars Prequels.

 Thanx for the critics. I agree all :). Thats true i have tried to model the building at the revenge of the sith. I wanted to make an efficient lighting study that was my main focus at this work. (As you can see the models are very simple. )I rendered the image in different passes than composited the final image at After Effects. Total rendering time was 20min.

Thanks to everybody.:) Thats true i modeled the building at the movie star wars "revenge of the sith". this work was a lighting and rendering study. I used ambient occlusion and some ambient lights to achieve a GI look. Total rendering time of all passes took about 20 minutes @ 1250x625 resolution with dual xeon 2.8 ghz. I agree with most of the critics.
