Hey there! im new too so before i work up the courage to post my WIP i'll stick to giving some encouragement and advice :)
you've done a nice job with this it reminds me alot of the old style anime types (its still used today but i see alot more realistic approach now days as opposed to when i watched it in the late 80's) anyways the eyes are nice, face shape nice, and a simplified hair approach works :)
my only advice on improving this girl is her right boob (our left) is pretty much non existant
and mixed with the 'off the shoulder' chami it gives the impression that, that boob is of a well worked 70yr old gran :D...but that can be fixed i think all you need to do is curve that line a bit or shade it and bring the line that outline the underside of the breast up,actually some shading on her body would be good but you mentioned you wern't sure how to do that (light source thing)
sorry i can't really give advice or help but i recommend looking at the tutorials which im sure your doing to get more info on light sourcing and if i find one i'll let you know
other than that good job and just keep practicing
and btw im glad to see someone else that draws with just flash and a mouse :D i hope you'll give my WIP a bit of a glance when i put it up :)

to get yourself an avatar you need around 5 posts i think.
for defining the lightsource highlights and stuff, i would suggest you to take a look
at rebecca kimmel's workshop #2 which has a shading excercise in it.
(you can find it in the anatomy and figurative drawing sub forum)
or give a few more details about your shading problem, cause shading is a quite large subject
to give any valuable answers that would exactly solve your problem :)
