This may be a silly question, but I have a shot in which I walk up to this 12 foot tall robot and flick a switch to activate him, then closer to camera to operate him. The whole time I'm in front of the bot, Im looking forward to hours and hours of roto work.

I was wondering, is there any software, or any way to extract a matte from anything thats moving automatically? like the computer looks at a shot...sees that nothing moves in frame but these certain pixels, and calculates a matte based on them???

Before I start the roto battle, I thought I'd ask :)

Mokey or the new Furnace 2 sparks. These will not work for Combustion they are for Flame/Flint/Inferno

Difference Matte my friend. Just pick a frame with a clean plate (you're not in it, this can also be constructed from a few different frames), duplicate it and import it as a single, then use it as a diff matte. The software creates a key based on the things that are different from the clean plate to the footage (only works with locked off shots.

well its definatly not a locked off start, but can I use difference matte as a start, then maybe do clean up in PS?
