Hi all. Please help me choose one:

Samsung 1200NF - € 700
LaCie electron22blueIV - € 990
Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW - 16ms-500cd/m2-1000:1 - € 1.250 (should be 12ms. italian dell claims 16ms. maybe its a previous revision. asked at dell, waitin for answer)
Dell Ultrasharp 2005FPW - 16ms-300cd/m2-600:1 - € 860
Dell Ultrasharp 2001FP - 16ms-250cd/m2-400:1 - € 860
(prices+IVA 20%)

For 3d modeling, rendering, video ed/comp, adobe ps/illustrator, watching movies. 2nd display in the future.
No eyestrain problems with CRTs: anti-radiations lenses and well enlighted wall behind monitor.
I'm goin' with nvidia due to ati's opengl drivers so LCDs will not benefit of a perfect DVI output, as i read somewhere in this forum. Does it concern quadros too?

If I'm doing my exchange rates right, those Dell prices are awful for starters.

You need to decide how important colour accuracy is to you. Do a search, CRT vs LCD has been widely discussed here. That said, I just got my 2405 from Dell, and daaaamn!! Suh-weet.

I got a Lacie Electron 22 Blue for £150 including delivery. It was refurb but absolutely nothing wrong with it. Truely wonderful monitor, pin sharp and great contrast and color.

I would dig around and see if you could get it refurb as paying 990 euros for it seems a bit much.

yeah, those dell prices seem way high... i paid $550 for the 2001FP a few months ago... and i know that would be even less in euros. Prices are usually higher in europe, but that seems ridiculous. i bet you could talk them down if you call them, they usually offer special deals over the phone.

the black level could be a lot better on the monitor, but everything else about it is really great.

Just got a 2405...it really rocks!...the pixel to buck ratio from dell is incredible!...those dell prices you quote aren't even close...

Thank you all guys. Yes, euros are about 18% on dollars; it seems PCs dont know it, or worse they inverts factors. As jbo said, "ridicolous". I found LaCie for 789 € at adraycamera.com. Other shops? Where can I find dells for reasonable prices? Only at US Dell?

For Billb: you're right, UltraSharp 2405FPW $ 959.20 should be € 792, strictly referrin to exchange rates... € 1.250, over 400 euros of taxes!
