View Full Version : underwater scene
bloddy_newbee 10-27-2002, 02:44 PM I wanna to create an underwater scene. I have a spotlight in this scene, that shall realise the water shadows from the surface on the ground of the underwater scene.
Does anybody know a tutorial or give me some tips, how I animate the water shadows, that it looks like realistic?

3dbuzz.com has a video tut for max. You can probably still get something out of it.

I think you are searching for the effect of caustics.
There is a tutorial on Gnomon
http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/tutorials/lightfog/lightfog.html
if you need an animated-caustic-texture try the tinderbox for nothing real shake, there is a good caustics-effect
or
Maya 4.5 has an example created with the new Ocean Shader
or
the caustics-plugin for Maya, but with this you get huge rendertimes
