View Full Version : My Girlfriend
arcus 07-19-2005, 11:00 PM Hello,
This is the first time that I am drawing a traditional 2D Head.
Most of my work is 3D but I know it is good to have some painting skills.
The head is drawn in Corel Photopaint with a pen.
Please give some comments and tips.
Thank you for watching

Well one thing I can come up with is try not do define her teeth this much, makes her look scary. Also when a person smiles the lower teeth shouldn't be visible this much, this way it looks like a forced smile. Just show a fragment of her upper teeth and have most of it covered in shadow, in the corners of her mouth much darker.
Other than that it looks fine to me for now.

ditto, the teeth are very scary....go look at lots of teeth...lots and lots, and lips...you'll get it...the eyes are looking good!

I agree, you got the eyes and nose pretty good but those chompers need some reining in!

yeah, there are good things going on, but she looks a little spaced out too, the way her eyes are done. I think it's that the whole pupils are showing and they're small too. The skin tone I might revisit too - she looks like she has a sunburn, even though it's in black and white.

Thank you very much for your comments.
Yes, I have to work on the teeth. Great tip Rudeone to hide some of the teeth in shadow.
The reference picture I used was a flash nightshot. This is the reason for the small pupils
I think. And BMunchausen you are right with the skintone, the picture was taken in holidays
(Dom.Rep) and it was very hot images/icons/icon7.gif.
But anyway, maybe you can understand that I am a little bit proud because I have
never reached that level before. Remember your first portrait.
I am still learning and learning...
