View Full Version : Open 4.5 file in 4.0

Hi,

I have a file complete model created in Maya 4.5 which I would like to open in Maya 4.0. Can anyone help me please? I have RAT 4.5, which does not work with Maya 4.5, and Maya version 4.0 and I have been given this file to texture and render, but I can't open it in 4.0.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Save it as a .ma file and change the version info from 4.5 to 4.0 ... that MIGHT work. As long as you fon't have any 4.5 specific parameters in the history.

I tried that but apparently there is some 4.5 specific parameters in the history and it didn't work. I think I'll just have to try some juggling act and import/export through other file formats and lose some data.

You could also try and delete all (by type) history

delete all version info lines in the .ma file

replace the line

requires maya "4.5";

with

requires maya "4.0";

that worked for my scene
