Hey all,

I'm new to this, this is my first model that i've tried to texture and layout uvs for. Anyways I've layed out the rest of the uvs suprisingly enough to how i want them...and then i came to the head...heheh a bit more tricky...any suggestions as how i should do this? since I have that nice little pointed ear? my intial thoughts where planar projects on the sides/front of the face/bottom of neck, back of head...and then the ears on their own...and then sewing the uvs together later...what do you all think??? thanks.

Well, I'd give it a cylindrical mapping for the head/face itself and planar for the ears. Just a thought. Pretty new to UV mapping myself.

Edit: Inspired by the interesting geometry of the model, I thought, you could be interested in this material. (http://67.15.36.49/ffa/tutorials/max/mouth_tutorial/mouth.asp) Some vital thoughts on how to properly model a mouth.

Well This is is what I did...I did a series of planar maps...as shown in the digital tutors dvd, for each side of the head...back front bottom top, even both sides of the ears, top and bottom of nose...etc.
