I may have stumbled on one of the most useful and hidden features inside Messiah's soft body collisions: dont use it at all. instead use 'predeformed points' and a spherize effect.

I've attached a prj with this working in action (and I've send the corresponding tutorial video to PMG, I hope they have some room on the site to display it)

this example is taken from the minituts2 cd I am just wrapping up, and I think it will open up some eyes to the possibilities of Softbody dynamics again. This is also may be a good time to request a collision detection method more along the lines of the way spherize works. maybe dropping a spherize on every vertice, or something....

it's quite useable and very peppy. it's just a bit more work to set up the collision spheres to get the underlying shape. I'd even say it's just as fast as any high-end cloth solutions. :)

Cool! I look forward to testing it out later today.
Thanks Joe.

Looking forward to your upcoming CD, Joe. How are things at Avalanche software by the way? I was up in your neck of the woods this past Dec in Park City ... went skiing. Beautiful vistas out there. Billy's been telling me it's hot as hell this summer though.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing Joe. By animating the Null under the spherize you can kind of get a feel of how this would work if this were some cloth over a belly of a character walking around. Cool stuff.

Again. . . very cool Joe. Thanks.
