OK, I read a thread that talked about this a bit. I tried the method of creating a duplicate of the sub-d's poly-proxy mesh, averaged the vertices (worked nice!) and then went about making some OK looking UVs.
Now comes the problem for me. I thought I would be able to select the faces of my poly dup, copy the UVs, select the poly-proxy mesh, select it's faces and then paste UVs.
Unfortunately, when I do that, all that consistently shows up in the UV Texture Editor when the poly-proxy is selected are some UVs in the middle of the upper-right quadrant and nothing more. It looks as if 5 or 6 UVs were copied and the rest removed.
Anyone have any suggestions? Is this salvagable or should I use another method?
Thanks,
Alec
