About 15 minutes in photoshop, just playing around with composition and depth.

The mood is excellent your choice of pallet is nice. Hard to sorta figure out what is going on but thats okay for a mood board piece.

Very nice.

Thanks K, I actually created it using an abstract method, by throwing some values down and finding an image in it somewhere then cropped out the rest and threw some values and defined a few more things.

I might go on an define it a little more, I mean 15 mins is barely anytime at all to flesh out anything too much.

15 minutes?.....

You've got to be figuring conservatively... that's pretty f~king incredible for 15 minutes...

I'm just starting with digital painting, how did you get those lines that go from like pink to white to pink? That mist? Or even the red lights?... I'm having a hard time getting any smooth, flowing colors ( http://gladstone.uoregon.edu/%7Ernagle1/IMAGE/FuhiyoWIP_01a.jpg )

I take it you would start on like a brown background color or something right?... I'm starting to think it's not always best to start on a white background...

Still, I'm impressed Magic Man... I'm having a hard time believing that 15 minutes of work.

Ha, thanks man, but if you look farefully, the only things that are defined are the robot arriving and the figure, everything else is alluded to.

I started abstract, threw about 4 massive thich black lines down and then randomly used the heal tool to create interesting smudges. I then worked in greyscale about 50% of the time, then flattened all the layers, created another later on top and set the blend mode to color - then used an airbrush to throw in the hues.

Very very fast process.

Pylon, looking at your art (which is quite good btw) I'd guess your using a mouse to try and colour. If so doing soft tones are very very hard to do, you can use the smudge and blur tools to try and "mimic" soft tones, but unless you use a tablet and pressure sensative pen it's gonna be a fight...

If you are using a tablet, make sure the brushes you are using have pressure (in various settings) turned on or the tab wont work as intended.

Impressive moody painting...

I was wondering if perhaps you would be interested in doing another one with screen recording turned on.. would propably be very informative for beginners to have a video of such a process, since quick moody images would propably be inspiring to do ;)

Anyways if you are interested please drop me a PM in case you need help setting up screen capture software ect .. would be happy to help and looking forward to watching you paint in the future hopefully ;) ;)
