View Full Version : Alpha Channel question - MAYA

Hey guys, I'm having a little problem here. I want to put a lable on something but its not a nice square label so I can't just designate it it's own material.

I have laid down the UV's that the texture will go on, but there are plenty of polys that occupy the same material won't need UV mapping. It's just a basic Blinn.

So I guess the question is how can I get my label to be placed ontop of a blinn with the alpha channel seperating the two?

maybe a layerd shader with a transparency map for the shader of the label.
the label is the color and everything that's not the label must be transparent.
no changing at the geometrie, so it is very simple and fast.
