Very nice. You might want to compress the images a bit more though it takes long to load. Not sure what is going on.

Nice brushes also!

zhuzhu,

I agree, this is a GREAT tutorial, but you do need to compress your images ~ can you resave and reload the images in compressed JPG format?

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this! It's a wonderful tutorial. :)

that's ok. i just worry about if compressed the jpg too much, it will get a worng color info and lossy quality.anyway, i will try it later.

I don't agree with compressing the images. the largest image size is 179k, the problem most likely would be the link which is coming from oversea and/or the site that hosting the image.

Rebeccak
07-19-2005, 06:55 PM
Thanks, zhuzhu! Try saving the images for web at about 65-70, that usually works for me. There is a bit of lossiness, sure, but it will help us to see your images faster.

Thank you! :)

i had resaved the image and edited all tutorial post already, i used [JPEG Optimizer] to got less than about 70KB almost. if it still getting slow for you view these pics, i thought i should need some help for the image hosting source. or Rebeccak help me put these pics on your webspace, if it necessarily.

Great tutorial. Most of my artwork has been done in watercolor and you I am awed by your skill in getting the true look of watercolor in a digital painting. Your tutorial is so well written and the steps easy to follow. I will have to try this.

Hi there, love your work. Its really great.

I was trying out your brushes and tutorial last night in Photoshop CS and got to the last stage before I was totally stumped, i.e. the watercolour paper texture bit.

Have you created a seamless tile from actual watercolour paper using the offset filter in PS/ or is there a preset somewhere in the textures folder that I missed. I looked for like 10 minutes or something!!!:scream:

Slowly going mad...

Thank you Zhu Zhu for answering my question. Will get onto making a custom paper effect right away (unless you are going to post a mini tutorial on that "topic within a topic" anytime soon - in which case I'll wait until I see how you do it first! :D)

zhuzhu,

That's ridiculously cheap in US dollars...it's too bad you don't have an American publisher. You certainly have plenty of work and talent to put a great book together! :)

Cheers,

just as a tribute to a great tutorial (which was very much part of why I felt digital painting was worth trying) and to one of my favourite artists around here (and to bump a great thread...)

my attempt at following zhuzhu's watercolor tutorial

(Please mind that I did this in artweaver as I do not own PS, making use of a custom set of brushes I created for watercolor)

Hi zhuzhu,
WOW !!! Your work is amazing!
Your watercolor paintings made me an instant fan of your work. i loooove watrcolors in general, and have some very nice pieces in my living room. I was pretty shocked when I found out your pieces are digital....wow, you could have fooled me :))

Your work stands out from the most, besides your technique, I love the motives, very down to earth, everyday life motives, very nice portraits (lady with the flowery hat), figures...very emotional, beautiful!
