Hi,
I ve just upgraded my system to TIGER and it seems that now I cant submit the render command in the terminal window. I get this strange message.

G5:~ bruno$ render -r mr
Cannot open renderer description file "/usr/sbin/rendererDesc/mrRenderer.xml"
G5:~ bruno$

I ve tryed everything, reinstall maya, tryed to relink the /sbin calling procedures...

Can someone help me?

Thanks :banghead:

I saw your post over on the alias site and posted this earlier, but here it is again if you check here first.

Yeah, I had that problem too on one of my machines (but not the second, go figure). Anyway the problem is that the folder resdererDesc is the Maya package and is linked by an alias in the folder usr/sbin/ and for some reason Maya doesn't recognize the alias. What I ended up doing is simply copying the rendererDesc folder directly into usr/sbin. I'd rather know what the real solution is, but this does work.

Thanks housewarmer

I didn't know what to do next..... I've tryed everything. I think the problem is from the instalation of Tiger, but dont have sure.
Anyway, everything is working now.

One more thing... Can you tell me a way of installing the satellite on OSX? I get the message...

// mental ray for Maya: using rayhosts file /Users/bruno/Library/Preferences/Alias/maya/6.5/prefs//maya.rayhosts
MSG 0.0 error 011229: could not connect to host:port 192.168.1.9:7103 - Connection refused
MSG 0.0 error 011706: cannot add host 192.168.1.9:7103

I dont have any firewall on.

My settings re.
maya.rayhosts file in pref location on master machine

what do I need to do in the slaves?

Thanks

I haven't used satellite much since it's been pretty unstable for me. So other than the obvious (install the satelite client on your slave), I recall there being some change with the port number default, but can't recall the specifics (I'm not home at the moment to double check). But that info was somewhere in the sat. docs. When I get home I'll see what I can figure out.
