I'm hoping someone can help,... I'm looking to set up a simple stretch/twist arm setup. I am using Max, but basic theory would be fine as well. Also, I don't have a lot of rigging experience, but I know max quite well.

Currently, my arm has twist, but no stretch. I use an arm that has three bones from shoulder to wrist (there is no elbow,... the arm needs to arc smoothly) On each of those bones I have a box attatched that is wired to rotate incrementally for my twist. Those boxes are then used for skinning.

What I need to be able to do is to stretch the arm an extra 30% or so when needed, and I like the methods mentioned by Michael comet at his site: http://www.comet-cartoons.com/ (in the 3d help section)

Can someone offer some help to get a simple stretch like this with twist?

Thanks.

edit: here is my current arm (without stretch) This is all I need with the addition of being able to reach just a bit further.

I included a wrist twist example file in a post explaining some of the things behind my skeleton rig. I haven't got a ready stretch example for you though.
