Im gonna buy myself a new friend this fall and I still have some new questions since my last thread some months ago I want to get cleared

My comp now: p4 2.4ghz (no ht), 1536mb(3x 512) PC2700 ram, radeon 9800xt
And my goal with my new comp is better rendertimes in max7 and increased viewportspeed, a little video composition in adobe premiere.. im not gaming much but i want games atleast to work on the comp just in case :)

My budget for the new comp is around 3200$ (USD). The parts im gonna buy is GFX, motherboard, processor,RAM?,HDD.

I have mostly read about dual core but maybe a dual processor is something to consider?
Wich one will I benefit most from in preformance/price?

As for dualcore I guess from all benchmarks Athlon 64 X2 xxxx+ is the one to aim for and not p4 840 EE?

The 4400+ and 4800+ have a VERY big price differece so is the 4800+ worth it?

All computers ive ever had have been intel so im new into AMD and is stuck in my mind the fact i have a 2.4 ghz and the 4800+ is also 2.4ghz ... YEA i know its a HUGE difference in preformance but my INTEL mind is messing with me ;)

Oh and while were at it whats the most preformance priceworthy GFX card that suits my needs? I have no experience what so ever with quatro cards so in that jungle im totaly naked :)

Lets get craaaazy with the thoughts and the what ifs

AMD owns Intel in dual core processors, and 64 bit.

a 4400 can be easily bumped up past 4800 speeds.

You are not going to spend anywhere near you budget for a single CPU motherboard and Dual Core CPU which is good.

Asus A8N SLI Premium (heatpipe cooling on chipset) nForce4 based chipset. 195.00

AMD X2 4400 is around 615.00

nVidia 7800 video card (PCI-E) around 600.00

2gb of ram for around 250.00 (Corsair or OCZ)

NEC ND35xx DVDR 16x dual layer for around 50.00 or less.

Ad some SATA II drives and you've got a pretty kick ass box.

nVidia 7800 video card (PCI-E) around 600.00

So i should not consider getting myself in on the quadros or does the 7800 card kickass even in standard rendering?

thx for the help =)

And about the RAM is this one any good (2 of them)?
Corsair VS1GB400C3 Value Select 1024Mb DDR PC3200 400MHz CAS3 Unbuffered

It was pretty sheap atleast but that worries me :P

getting into the Quadro is expensive. REAL expensive.

If you don;t have a very specific need for hardware accelertion in Maya, and this is just for you home machine, I wouldn't get into it. with rare exception you are not going to notice a difference anyway.

as for the ram, it's not exactly fast ram, but should work ok. OCZ 2 x 1gb is around 250.00 at newegg.

how about this RAM then:

Corsair XMS2 Xtreme Performance TwinX Matched - minne - 2 GB ( 2 x 1 GB ) - DIMM 184-pin - DDR

I cant find any OCZ in sweden shops, but corsair seems good to.
