View Full Version : Anyone used Combustion with C4D?
fxgogo 10-26-2002, 03:56 PM Does anyone here use Combustion with C4D? Specifically how well does it integrate with the RPf file format and multiple passes that C4d outputs? Can you give texture co-ords to combustion?

Well I am an old time After Effects user. I was about to buy myself a personal copy, but when Discreet offered their deal for Combustion at such a low price, I re-evaluated what I was looking at. I know After Effects will feed my Motion Graphics work. It is supreme at that, but as I do more and more effects work, I can see AE giving me less. The basic flaw I find with AE is the in-ability to directly mess with your picture using your mouse as you would in Photoshop. From what I have seen of Combustion, it looks like it will do that for me.
What do you think?

Well i suggest you play with the demo first, I have both at work now and since getting after effects i havent looked back.
The main problem with combustion is it's to slow...\
Im using a dual 950 zeon, 2 gigs of ram machine, so it's not a slow beast.
the difference was huge.
A spinning logo 6 sec's long with a background and one effect (shine)
6 minuts to render in combustion.
29 sec's in AE...
Dont get me rong i realy like combustion, love the interface, and it has some great tools, But for me i always have a tite deadloine so speed means everything.
anyway mate just my 2pence.

That is a good point. And my machine is not the fastest anymore. Speed is important, too many packages are slogs. Sometimes I wish I was a programmer, so I could make my own program. ;)
