Here's some of my addition to the short. This is Kost. we're still playing with the environment....any preferences between the two?

Hi Tubby and mebamonster..................Beautiful that's what I think. Great style, vibrant colors, great feel. I really like the ambiance and tone you have set.

As for choosing....no way, they are both a must for the animation. Yes both of them,no way anyone can pick in-between the two..........It's your faults for creating such fun and stylish characters, now you need both in your animation, but both are really worth the effort.

I am looking forward to seeing lot's more.Keep it up,great start....................It oooozes style........

P.S. Back with my 5 stars...............You really deserve them,And this from a rather tough critic...........

Thank you so very much Virtuoso! *blush* It is a wonderful surprise to hear such positive feedback from someone such as yourself. That really means a lot to me.
We have a few more characters brewing and we will post them as we get them done. Thanks for the support!
As far as the animation is concerned, we have the script and storyboards done and we hope to have the short done in a few more months *fingers crossed*
Thanks for the feedback Virtuoso and Opeth!

Excellent work, pretty simple modelling but great design and concept and that is where it really counts. Both characters look great, they have a fruity candy like appeal to them :) if I had to choose I would choose the first (my preference) if in the story he is to be a bit of a goofy character, the second gives the air of a Sonic the Hedgehog type personality.
Well done. :bounce:

It is great to hear of some shorts coming out of the school students. I'm just strating my own. You have got some really fun looking charters there and I love the bright colors. It is just so happy. Can you elabortate a little on the storyline.

oh and I perfer the head of mebamonsters and the body of tubby's. The head has great eyes and a lot of character. but the body of the first one just looks silly and more clumsy/playful/dopey. I perfer the second enviroment. But if you decide to use it I would try to get a real displacement for the ground and make it a little less uniform, but I love the hill thingies.

Those pics rule!!!:applause: Like the others said - they have an awesome amount of style.
For the environment, I'd go with the first one... it just seems to 'fit' a little better.
I can't wait to see the short

Thought I had something nobody said... but WRONG! Anyway, that's juste two lovely pics, incredible style. As baby said, the first environment just fits much more with the whole character style.

Great work

wow thanks everyone for the kind words!!
Virtuoso, thanks man, im so glad you liked the style we chose. You ain't making it easier on choosing an environmet though, but you sure made us blush with all the compliments.:)

thanks for all the input, both of the characters are actually gonna be used, just the environment needs deciding, thanks to you guys our decision is a lot easier.:) I don't want to give away the storyline until the short is done, but all i can say is that at 107.6 Degrees brain damage begins to occur, its a comedy. Thanks again for all the nice words and suggestions, hopefully we'll have some animation tests ready really soon.

Ho, those are nice! I actually got the impression from seeing them both that they'd work well as counter-parts. Though maybe if one were more opposite (in color) it would work better. ;)

ps-I like the simple first background myself. Brings all the focus to the character.

Thank you all for the encouragement and feedback! God I love this community. We will definately be using the first environment for our short (my favorite as well). Perhaps we will use Adam's suggestion and add some tiny little hills in the backdrop...
Again, thank you all for taking the time to write to us (and with such kind words).

wow, thanks everyone for the nice words!

brkofdon, thanks for the compliments, i'll definetly take you up on that offer!:)

Airflow, thanks , i don't think we'll ever be worthy of that pixar comment, but thanks for saying it anyway.

muckywetnoodle , thanks! we were trying to get similarities in the look of the characters without making them completely the same, I'm glad they look well together, you got a point about making them more complimentary, i'll try give that a try.:)

fellah , hey, wow, thanks man! mmmmmmm jellybeans

ZeroNeuro,Krugar, facial , Aeroplane , thanks a bunch! appreciate your comments and i hope to have more to show later.:)

When I saw these yesterday, I felt more inspired than I have felt in a long time. While running home to round out more concepts I have been sitting on, I think of you two and your awesome dedication to a pastime all of us so passionately love.

Rock on you two! I love it.
And.. Thanks.. :)

very good choice of colors there in the first screen. i have to agree that the first environment is better in that it fits with the style of characters more, and it has better coloring, to differentiate between objects easier. both characters look very good tho. personally i always hate doing environments, because I feel i have a hard time making them seem alive, but it's looking like you guys have managed to do that in the first shot. great stuff. keep it up.

hey thanks for all the comments!! ok, heres a REALLY rough animation test we did to get a feel of the rigs and the movements of the characters. I stress this is really rough, we spent like 2 days on this. We would love any advice on character movement or things that look off. I realized that there is a weird flicker going on, i think its because the codec(cinepac avi), but if anyone has advice on how to get rid of that i would love it. Again, thanks for the nice words guys, it defintely motivates us.

[edit] heres a new link to the animation

http://home.attbi.com/~shikaka85/testsmall.mov

ps. if the mods think this would be better put in the WIP please move it or let me know how to do it.

Wonderful... I think Tuci's head and neck are too rigid while running. A neck that long on such a cartoonish figure could be grossly overeggagerated while in motion for effect.. Give it a try.

Looks great!
