So I hope you hold true to your offer for a license to be $495 through the end of august. Gonna save up before the end of august. :) I like the tree shader...a procedural shading system for C4D. Sounds good to me!

Wow! I think just the fact that they choose to release a C4D version is sending a pretty clear message to the CG community. :) I feel kind of sorry for the XSI users out there though.
Anyway... Did anyone else notice this?!
finalRender Stage-2 does also come with a C++ based shader SDK along with several other API functions that allow you to easily integrate finalRender Stage-2 into your production pipeline. Especially bigger studios will love the fact that finalRender Stage-2 perfectly supports the industry standard for scene description and shader programming. Any professional shader developer will be happy to hear that he can use his existing work and transfer it to finalRender Stage-2 without any hassle.
Am I reading this correctly?!! Is this saying that fR2 will support the Renderman shading language?! I don't know of any other industry standard unless Cebas is trying to suggest that it's own shading language is the industry standard. ;) If it truly is .rsl, why doesn't it just say that?
I think supporting rsl is going to become a really important feature for the upcomming stand alone renderers. It's basically the same thing as a shading plug in standard. It helps defign a compatibility across define renderers that's going to become very important pretty soon. Right now, most studios are using Pixar's RenderMan for their film work. I would really love to see this change. Not because I think renderman sucks or anything but because I think it's not good to have a single product dominate any market. The biggest issue is that right now, no one is challenging Pixar to take it to the next level other then themselves. 95% of what makes up the renderman standard was written in the late 80's. Over the years they've only added little things here and there and basically in there own sweet time. Sub-D's, Area lights, Ray Tracing and GI are a few examples. I think it would be great if Pixar was pushed a little with some healthy competition.

Yes we do support RISpec now and in a later stage also the shading langugae. Right now you need to use C++ to write your shaders, however we did some careful planning and it is really easy to get the shaders over to finalRender.:D
As we see it there are two standards right now and we will support both :D
