hi,

i have to animate some water movement, that a paddlesteamer makes.....esp. a nice bow wash and the whisk-effekt the paddle made...

but the water is more like oil (maybe that mmakes easyer) ...

At the moment I have testen solutions with clothsimulation, but calculationtimes on hiresplanes...made ist heavy to setup.....

My next try was displacements.....but here I dinīt have a smart idea to make the 2D stuff for it.....

is there maybe a 2D-wave-fluid-simulation software outthere , that is usefull?

Or anybody have manage such things before (with c4d)?

That movement of the water mustnīt physikal real.....just looking cool....

I am thankful for any suggestion....

Hi mostyle, did you try the JeremyW's way with displacement ?

and of course look at the other files.

I have seen a good technique used on a TV commercial where most of the work was done in the compositing. The water, boat, wake and bow froth are all done in seperate passes with a different mesh for each so that you can break it down into simple components. I hope this helps,

There is a cool animated demo on the motion gimmik site for the ATS plugin, that shows a fan inside a cup that churns up the liquid inside. I have never been able to replicate this, but would love to know how it was done. A possible option?

Of course there is the realflow option, but this would require an insane amount of computational power.

On a related note, in the latest issue of Cinefex, there are details on how ILM created the water effects for the droid craft traversing the lake on Kashyyyk (yes three y's!). ILM has shot practical water elements for the boat wakes and comped them in with the CG water, since this still looks better...

thx for sugestions guys....I play around with the proximal solution....but now I buy at-the -sea ...its easyer to setup....will see if it works fine for my needs....thx
