I am currently into Print (at work) but intend to put a lot of time into web also.
I used Photoshop and CorelDraw extensively. Right now my need is not much, but I also dont want to regret later about my PC getting outdated 3 months down the line. In office I have a m/c with 2.7 Ghz and 1GB Ram, so for my home, I would not settle for anything less. Yeah, in near future (3 months later) I will start work on Fruity Loops (for sound) and other video editing, special fx software.... So keeping in mind pls recommend whats ideal for me.

I share what I have in mind (Part1).
Intel Pentium or AMD Opteron 3 GHz. HyperThreading ?
Motherboard ?
RAM 1GB DDR initially, upgradable to 2 GB ?
HDD 160 GB. That should do for now. or forever?
A DVD Writer
A CD Writer
FDD
Optical Mouse
Keyboard
Cabinet
19" CRT Monitor or 17" LCD Monitor
A video card.

I have no idea about the specific brands and the costs.

In addition to the above, I am also looking at the following (Part2).
XP Home (Media Centre) Edition
TV Tuner Card (External)
Scanner (lo-end to scan doc but with TP adapter, might be used sometime)
Printer (inkjet — just for emergency color prints, not hi-end)
UPS (30-mins backup)
Webcam (which gives good clear results)
5.1 Speaker & Subwoofer system

I would appreciate if one would suggest me the right brands for the above mentioned configuration...

Pls help.
